According to a Gallup opinion poll on the approval ratings of world leaders, approval of the US as a global leader declined during 2023 compared to the beginning of Biden’s presidency. Approval of the US as a global leader decreased by about 4 percent overall and fell by more than 10 percent in about nine countries. However, approval of US leadership increased in 13 countries, mostly in Africa, by more than 10 percent. Competition will continue among top countries to maintain their standing as effective global leaders.The infographic below maps global approval of US leadership.
