Nikkei Asia surveyed its readers about their predictions on key issues in Asia for 2024. More than a third (37 percent) of those surveyed report that they expect the military regime in Myanmar to collapse, and about 24.3 percent predict that Modi will lose the upcoming elections in India. Meanwhile, nearly 58 percent predict that North Korea will conduct a nuclear test for the first time since 2017. In the economic sphere, 74.3 percent of those surveyed expect China to experience a slowdown in economic growth, while about 76 percent predict negative interest rates in Japan to end this year.
