Its economy is among the leading economies in Sub-Saharan Africa and remains relatively diversified, with agriculture constituting its largest sector at approximately 30% of GDP.The country also serves as a major commercial, financial, and logistical hub. The Port of Mombasa functions as the principal maritime gateway in the region, while Kenya continues to attract significant foreign direct investment across sectors such as tourism, finance, renewable energy, telecommunications, and <a href="https://www.csis.org/events/kenyas-emergence-regional-power" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">manufacturing</a>.Moreover, renewable sources account for nearly <a href="https://www.csis.org/events/kenyas-emergence-regional-power" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">90%</a> of Kenya’s energy mix, while its strategic location along the Indian Ocean and borders with Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, and <a href="https://www.wetradeafrica.com/kenya-country-profile/?utm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">South Sudan</a> positions it as a gateway for trade and investment across East and Central Africa.5.
